Dra. Nicole Duplaix visited our research base in July 2012.  During the 10 days spent there, Dr. Duplaix attended ProCantão´s Technical Workshop  as a guest of honnour.  She also endorsed the methodolgy being used by the Instituto for longtime monitoring the population of giant otters in Cantão.   Dr. Duplaix intends to return to Cantão once a year in order to follow up with the project´s results.

Dr. Rob Williams visited Cantão in July 2012 as per invitation of Instituto Araguaia.  As a key speaker in ProCantão´s Technical Workshop, he made a brilliant presentation on Ecotourism Impact and Planning regarding Giant Otters in Manu National Park and in Lago Maldonado, Perú.  While at the Instituto´s research base Dr. Williams advised the field work of our fellow scientist Adriana Luz, who received a grant from the Instituto Araguaia to  conduct the instituto´s giant otter project.

Dr. Christoff Schenck

In May 2011 we received the visit of Dr. Christof Schenck, Director of the Frankfurt Zoological Society. Dr. Schenck pioneered the long-term research on giant otters that has been carriend out in Peru for over 10 years.  His visit set the beginning of our institutions’ partnership.
