Volunteers are expected to stay for a minimum of 45 days. The fee covers the cost of a person’s room, board, basic insurance, and of a local field assistant who will assist the person in the field at all times. This fee also covers the person’s training and supervision, and contributes to the day-to-day costs of running our research base.  The fee excludes the cost of the volunteer’s flights, transport between Palmas and the research base, spending money and personal expenses.

All volunteers will be required to sign our Liability Waiver and Code of Conduct agreement. Training will be provided by our staff during the first two weeks in the base.

The fee is payable to the Instituto Araguaia. Volunteers will be required to pay a deposit fee of R$2.000 to confirm and hold their volunteer place in our research base. The remainder of the total volunteer fee must be paid in one lump-sum, one month prior to his/her arrival at the Instituto.
